RUGGED, BACKCOUNTRY
YURT RENTALS AT
YMCA MILL HOLLOW

This is a place for people who like their adventures earned, who find joy in the trail as much as the destination. Tucked deep in Utah’s Uinta Mountains, this one-of-a-kind yurt invites you to disconnect with no Wi-Fi, no cell service, no rush... just a wood stove, fresh snow, and the sound of wind in the trees.

The Journey In

The path to Mill Hollow begins at Noblett’s Trailhead on SR-35, where the plowed road ends and the backcountry begins. You’ll travel roughly six miles from the parking area, the first four along a snow-packed road beside the South Fork of the Provo River, followed by a quieter stretch through forest and open meadows. Whether you’re traveling by snowshoe, ski, or snowmobile, the approach is part of what makes Mill Hollow unforgettable. While Mill Hollow feels remote, it’s not entirely cut off, a nearby highway about a mile or two away sometimes carries snowmobile traffic, so you may hear the occasional hum. The yurt sits on public land, so true silence isn’t guaranteed but you will find space and solitude.

Inside the Yurt

Simple. Sturdy. Cozy after a day outdoors. The Mill Hollow Yurt is designed for rest and reflection.

Each stay includes:

  • Wood stove and propane buddy heater for warmth (propane tanks provided)

  • 4 bunks (8 twin-size beds total)

  • Portable solar light system (Goal Zero) for limited power

  • Char-Broil gas grill and single-burner stove for cooking (propane tanks provided)

  • Portable restroom (Porta Potty) just steps from the door — a welcome amenity compared to the usual backcountry routine

There’s no electricity or cell service here, but that’s the point. Bring what you need, settle in, and let the simplicity do its work.

Adventure at Your Doorstep

Bring your own gear (snowshoes, skis, or a snowmobile) and explore miles of quiet mountain trails and open terrain right from camp.

  • Traverse snow-covered meadows and forested ridgelines

  • Snowshoe or cross-country ski peaceful backcountry routes

  • Access nearby snowmobile trails directly from the area

  • Stargaze under Utah’s famously clear winter skies

Wildlife sightings are common! Moose, elk, mule deer, porcupines, weasels, and a variety of birds all call this area home. And while you’ll share the backcountry with others out on the trails, your stay at Mill Hollow is entirely your own. There’s only one yurt on the property. After a day of exploring, come back to a place that’s yours alone, with no neighbors to crash your campfire stories. No guided tours. No rentals.

Know Before You Go

Getting to Mill Hollow is part of the adventure — about six miles from the parking area on a snow-packed trail. Guests usually travel by snowshoe, ski, or snowmobile, carrying gear in a sled or pack. This experience is best for adults or older youth who are comfortable with moderate backcountry travel and winter conditions.
