FIND YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE

YMCA of Northern Utah Overnight Camps

Adventure is calling, is your camper ready?! At YMCA overnight summer camp programs, kids and teens have the opportunity to explore nature, make lifetime friendships, develop confidence, gain independence, and hone in on some important leadership skills! From horseback riding and kayaking, to backpacking and rock climbing, to arts and crafts and campfire songs, overnight camp at the Y has a little something for everyone!

This year, we've add new mini-camps for our youngest explorers, and a new high-adventure program for our teen leaders! We firmly believe that camping helps to teach self-reliance, a love for nature and the outdoors, and supports development of attitudes and practices that build character and leadership—all amidst the fun of campfires, games, traditions, and meaningful relationships! What could be better, right?

SO, WHICH ONE WILL IT BE?

YMCA MILL HOLLOW

For over 60 years YMCA Mill Hollow has been THE environmental education center for Utah. YMCA Mill Hollow carries forward that rich tradition of summer camp: skits, songs, campfires, s’mores, arts and crafts, hiking, and so much more while campers connect with the natural sciences through outdoor education and exploration. During a 2, 3, or 5 day adventure, campers (5-17 year olds) will explore by turning Utah’s mountain landscape into an outdoor laboratory where campers have the opportunity to experience the natural sciences while getting a little muddy, making new friends, and having a whole lot of fun.

The goal here is for our campers to grow in independence, responsibility, and confidence as they are guided through the camp experience by hand-picked and trained staff.  Each week’s theme is designed to captivate youth in new and exciting ways, with a different theme game every week and a story that makes each week unique in its own way! In addition to traditional camps, we offer specialty camps that allow campers to grow in areas such as leadership development and horseback riding!

It is our honor and responsibility to acknowledge to all who meet with us at the YMCA of Northern Utah Overnight Camps that we gather on the traditional and ancestral lands of the Utes and Shoshone peoples. These Indigenous nations have stewarded this land and all its inhabitants—two- and four-legged, winged and water-bound—in time immemorial.

We also recognize the broader Indigenous communities of Utah, including the Goshutes, Paiutes, Navajo, and Hopi peoples and their ancestors, whose histories and contributions continue to shape this region.

We honor their memory, their presence in our state today, and their ancestors' enduring spirit. We do so with reverence for their resilience in preserving sacred connections to the land and one another.

We Honor the People, We Honor the Land.

Acknowledgment of Source and Collaboration

This land acknowledgment was respectfully adapted by the YMCA of Northern Utah from a statement created at Utah Valley University, developed with guidance from Ken Sekaquaptewa and Kumen Louis. We have tailored this version to reflect our programs, people, and the mission of our YMCA community.
