EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC OF CAMP AT HOME!

Hi Friends! We are all going a little stir crazy at home and thought what better way to combat that than CAMP MAGIC! Here are some ways you can experience camp magic from our YMCA Camps in your own home! Our YMCA staff will be trying out these activities while they’re working from home, so make sure to check our Facebook page occasionally! We cannot wait for summer 2020!

TRY SOME OF THESE!

You: Did you know the most important part of camp is you? Please take care of yourself. Have a dance party, meditate, do a face mask, take a bubble bath, or play a game. 

Make a friend: Did you know that the YMCA is offering an opportunity for you to have a pen pal in California? We have partnered with the YMCA of the Foothills to help us connect with new friends. If you’re interested, go here. Maybe you just want to “keep the old” . You can write a letter to your favorite counselor and send it to us. We’ll get it to them! CHORES! FREE CANDY? I want candy! Help out during chores at home whilst singing your favorite camp song! Send us a video and you can be featured on our social media. Submit videos here!

Activity: There are so many camp activities you can (sort of) do at home. Make a cabin cheer for your family. Perform a skit or play with your family for drama and record it and share with friends and family. Lead CHRRPL and talk about how you can use core values at home. Get out and be active, even if it’s in your backyard. Make sure to maintain social distancing!

Crafts: Let your creative juices flow and create a work of art! You make a friendship bracelet, make a sculpture from things you find around the house, or create a chalk drawing! Don’t forget to take a photo and post it on our Facebook page. 

Acquire Knowledge or a Skill: How are you using all of this time? Could you learn to solve a rubik's cube or yo-yo? Practice your camp songs OR write your own! Make sure to send us a video so we can learn it before summer!

Make something tasty: See if you can create some of your favorite camp foods at home! Spaghetti, walking tacos, and pancakes are some of our favorites! 

Pause for reflection: What are you grateful for? Take some time to show those around you that you care for them, think about your favourite core value (CHRRPL) and how you can work towards it during this time. You can also pause and practice selfcare! Take a nice bath, meditate before going to bed, practice some yoga early in the morning.
