About Us

Throughout the YMCA of Northern Utah's 125 year history, it has been our mission to strengthen our communities. The YMCA's unique approach rests on four organizational pillars:

  • The YMCA's vision mission and values come alive not by "who" we serve, but by "how" we serve them. The central approach of integrating "spirit" into everything we do allows the YMCA to have a stronger impact and meaningful results in each action.
  • The YMCA's inclusiveness extends "to all" and our financial assistance, inclusion and non-discriminatory policies permit the YMCA to serve all segments of every community, regardless of their socioeconomic status, race or ethnicity.
  • Best practices are purposely put to work to ensure that each program and every curriculum component develop the whole person (socially, emotionally, physically and academically).
  • Utilizing a framework of evidence-based research and current community needs assessments allows the YMCA to customize programs and services that meet the needs of a particular individual and/or community.

To provide our communities with experiences that enhance healthy mind, body, and spirit while building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

To be the leader in understanding and meeting our communities' needs by developing and adapting high quality programs and experiences that provide value to children, adults, and families.

The Y is a cause-driven nonprofit creating positive social change in Utah since 1893. Come discover our rich century long history!

The Y has been listening and responding to our communities’ most critical social needs for 125 years.

We are a powerful association of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

The Y is accessible to all people. Our goal is that no child, family or adult will be turned away because of financial need. Financial assistance is offered to individuals and families who cannot afford our programs. In 2010, more than 60% of families received financial assistance, scholarships and subsidies to participate in our programs.

For over 100 years the YMCA has been making a difference and strengthening our community. Here are some of the wonderful stories contributed by YMCA families and staff to share the inspirational ways that the YMCA changes lives! The YMCA would like to thank the community of supporters who are helping us make a positive impact on our community.
