2017 Federal Budget

July 12, 2017

The YMCA of Northern Utah is a non-profit organization that is proud and honored to care for your children and support you and your family. We know that you have high expectations for the programs that the YMCA provides to you and your family. In addition to the program fees that you pay for these programs, the YMCA also depends on private and public donations to deliver high quality youth services to you. In fact, these donations cover almost 70% of the cost for the YMCA's Afterschool Program, Pre-School Program, and Summer Day Camp.

There are important federal grants that the YMCA receives to provide the services your family depends on are at risk for elimination or cuts in the 2018 federal budget. These include the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program(slated for elimination) and the Child Care and Development Block Grant(slated for cuts) which help to support our Afterschool Program, Summer Day Camp and Pre-School Program. In the coming months, Congress will be working to finalize the 2018 budget, and now is the time that they need to hear feedback from their constituents on spending priorities.

 What you can do:

If you would like to make your voice heard on this issue, now is the time to call your congressional members. Tell them why the services supported by these grants are important to your children and to you as hardworking parents. Ask that they work to preserve funding for important youth programs in your community. Anyone in Utah can call their congressional members; no personal identity information will be required when you call.

 Who to call:

        Representative Mia Love (Utah 4th District) - 801-996- 8729

        Senator Mike Lee - 801-524- 5933

        Senator Orrin Hatch - 801-524- 4380
